The Gender Studies Lecture Series was developed in collaboration with the Gender Studies Program in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, and invites renowned scholars from around the country to share the latest research on gender, sexuality, and women. The program provides an intellectual hub to students, staff, faculty, and community members who support feminist scholarship and have an interest in expanding their knowledge and work in this area. Previous topics include gender equality, glass ceiling, health and wellness, balancing work and family, workplace climate, and media representation.

The Galerstein Gender Center and School of Interdisciplinary Studies, Gender Studies present the Gender Studies Lecture Series. Does psychology really get us? Decolonizing Latinx Psychology. Below, a headshot picture of Dr. Jasmine A. Mena. Jasmine A. Mena, PhD, is an associate professor of psychology and an affiliate of the Latin American Studies Program at Bucknell University. She is a licensed clinical psychologist who completed her training at the University of Rhode Island. Her research examines the influence of cultural and contextual factors on physical and mental health and quality of life. She uses a critical and multilevel approach to examine three interrelated scholarly areas: 1) the influence of discrimination on psychological distress. 2) psychosocial determinants of health disparities. and 3) equity, diversity, and inclusion in the teaching of psychology. In her talk she will discuss how colonization helped to shape the field of psychology and will gesture toward decolonization of Latinx psychology, a growing subarea.
