Sexual Assault Awareness
Sexual violence impacts millions of people of all backgrounds and ages. According to RAINN, people under the age of 30, particularly girls and women, experience sexual violence at higher rates. The University of Texas at Dallas takes sexual misconduct seriously.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the Galerstein Gender Center collaborates with community organizations, Title IX Initiatives and campus departments to promote an environment free of sexual violence, provide resources and education on sexual assault-related issues, and provide support to survivors. The Student Counseling Center provide support to survivors, find more information here. The GGC partners with the Student Wellness Center on It’s On Us. Consultation & Counseling Services
Any student, staff, or faculty wishing to discuss an incident in confidence may do so with a counselor in the Student Counseling Center, or health care provider in the Student Health Center.
How to Make a Report
Galerstein Gender Staff encourages students, staff and faculty to report incidents of sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment, sexual violence, sexual assault, stalking, domestic violence and/or dating violence.

Senior Director and Title IX Coordinator
Provides management, leadership, coordination, and support for the department. Develops, implements, and monitors university programs and policies promoting and ensuring compliance with Title IX including educational programs and training for students, faculty, and staff. Oversees the sexual misconduct and nondiscrimination complaint investigation processes.

GGC Reporting Responsibility
Apart from our counseling staff, all other GGC Staff are considered Responsible Employees and Campus Security Authorities. This means they are required by law to report crimes that they witness or are made aware of to the UT Dallas Police. They are also required to report incidents of sexual misconduct that they witness, or are made aware of, to the Title IX Coordinator. Our first priority is to properly support students, while complying with legal reporting responsibilities.
